Team Falcons and Team Liquid make early exit from DreamLeague Season 25

DreamLeague Season 25 has been a rollercoaster of surprises, with established teams making an early exit, while underdogs defied expectations to secure a spot in the playoffs.

Team Liquid and Team Falcons had their tournament run cut short after being eliminated in the second group stage. Liquid struggled significantly, losing six out of seven series in the group play. Their only victory came against Tundra Esports, the reigning powerhouse, but it wasn’t enough to keep them in contention. Similarly, Falcons faced a rocky start, losing their first series on the new patch to PARIVISION. Beginning with the second group stage, Falcons played with Sumail Hassan standing in, while their midlaner, Stanislav "Malr1ne" Potorak, had to leave to sort out his visa for the upcoming ESL One Raleigh. Four series losses ultimately sealed their fate, ending their run in the top 8.

Along with Falcons and Liquid, BetBoom Team and HEROIC have also been eliminated at the end of the second group stage.

Chimera Esports - biggest surprise of the tournament

However, the biggest story of the tournament so far has been the rise of Chimera Esports. Entering DreamLeague Season 25 as underdogs, Chimera stunned the competition with a series of upsets. They defeated the likes of Team Spirit, Team Liquid, BetBoom Team and HEROIC to secure fourth place in the group and a spot in the playoffs.

The playoffs will feature the top four teams: PARIVISION, who dominated the group stage with a flawless 7-0 record, Tundra Esports, Team Spirit and Chimera Esports in fourth. The playoffs stage will be a quick two-day brawl held in a double elimination bracket this weekend, March 1-2.

There will be two best-of-three series played each day. Chimera and Team Spirit will open the playoffs stage on Saturday with their lower bracket confrontation scheduled at 15:00 CET/ 22:00 SGT, followed by the upper bracket finals between PARIVISION and Tundra Esports starting at 18:30 CET/01:30 SGT.
