Spirit crush Liquid in lower bracket sweep to keep TI15 hopes alive

Team Spirit sweep Team Liquid 2-0 in lower bracket quarterfinals at The International 2026.

Day 3 of The International 2026 playoffs stage opened with a lower bracket battle for survival between Team Liquid and Team Spirit. The latter came out of the gates delivering a dominant performance in the first game of the best-of-three series with a draft built for mobility and global map presence.

Team Spirit 2:0 Team Liquid

Illya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk's Nature's Prophet was the centrepiece of Spirit’s game plan, while Larl on Pangolier provided the initiation power and the team fight control in Liquid’s back line to make sure every engagement would go in his team's favour. Team Liquid, with Michael "miCKe" Vu playing a carry Shadow Fiend, never seemed to find their rhythm and Michał "Nisha" Jankowski on Invoker struggled to make an impact as Spirit were constantly suffocating all lanes and dictating the pace of the game.

On the brink of elimination, Liquid went for more of a comfort pick-oriented draft in game two, with miCke on Tiny and Nisha on Puck. They tried to match Spirit’s tempo with an offlane Lycan, but they didn’t really get any chance at executing their plan.

Team Spirit were on a bully stance in the laning stage, with Magomed "Collapse" Khalilov leading the charge on Centaur Warrunner. The laning stage was so one-sided that Collapse got the luxury of having a completed Heart of Tarrasque just 18 minutes in, which made it quite impossible for Liquid to stand a chance.
