In a stunning upset, Peru Rejects have denied HEROIC a place at DreamLeague Season 28, securing South America's only slot at the upcoming $1 million tournament.

Removed from HEROIC only a couple of weeks ago, at the end of December 2025, Elvis "Scofield" Peña joined Peru Rejects and, along with David "Parker" Nicho Flores, who had also been on the HEROIC roster at the beginning of 2025, defeated their former squad twice in the qualifiers to claim their spot.

Peru Rejects will be South America’s sole representatives at DreamLeague Season 28, which begins on February 16. They secured their spot with a dominant run through the upper bracket, sending HEROIC to the elimination rounds and then defeating them again in the grand finals.

This marks a shocking end to HEROIC's reign as the uncontested leader of the South American region for over a year.

Peru Rejects vs. HEROIC – 3:1

HEROIC started the grand finals of the SA closed qualifiers for DreamLeague Season 28 with a win courtesy of a nearly spotless game from Yuma "Yuma" Langlet on a carry Razor. However, heading into the second game, Peru Rejects came prepared with a position four Marci and multiple combos around her Dispose to set their cores for a dream early game.

Their offlane duo, Marci-Night Stalker proved to be way overwhelming for HEROIC’s carry Windranger and with that lane won in just the first few minutes of the game, Scofield was free to roam all over the map and dominate HEROIC.

Peru Rejects found a strong answer to HEROIC’s first pick Huskar in Ancient Apparition in game three, and put themselves one victory away from qualifying to DreamLeague S28. They were allowed to have their Marci-Night Stalker offlane duo once again, and they didn’t hesitate to punish HEROIC for it.

While this is HEROIC's first qualifier loss in roughly a year, not everything is lost for the start of 2026 as they will be representing South America at BLAST Slam VI, which will unfold February 3-15 with 12 teams competing for the title and a share of the $1,000,000 prize pool.

DreamLeague Season 28 is scheduled to begin on February 16 and will be played online, with 16 teams competing from boot camps across Europe.
