MOUZ eliminate Team Spirit at BLAST Slam IV

After a long break, it was finally time for BLAST Slam IV’s playoffs to get underway, with MOUZ taking on Team Spirit in the first series.

It has been over two weeks since we have seen any action from BLAST Slam IV. However, this weekend gives us the entire playoffs, with a champion crowned on November 9th. To kick things off from the Singapore Indoor Stadium were MOUZ and Team Spirit. With the two teams having previously met during the Group Stage, MOUZ would be hoping to cause another upset by taking down Spirit. However, with elimination on the line, things would be tougher.

MidOne returns with a RAMPAGE and a win

MOUZ’s participation at BLAST Slam IV came through PARIVISION, withdrawing from the tournament early in October. During the break, the team performed fairly well at FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2, considering Artem "lorenof" Melnyk played as a stand-in for Yeik "MidOne" Nai Zheng.

But with their mid-laner back in action, MOUZ took to their series against Spirit with vigour. It only took 7-minutes for MidOne’s Nature’s Prophet to secure a RAMPAGE. Although Spirit did take control of the game after this, MOUZ restored their composure and took the lead in the series.

Kicking off game 2 with a fierce tempo, once again, MOUZ were all over Spirit. Similarly to the previous game, Spirit made sure to take control of the game after a slow start, but this time they did not seem to give up their lead. Illya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk’s Templar Assassin dominated, taking the series to a decisive final game.

With tournament lives on the line, we would see an extremely chaotic final game. While the previous games saw MOUZ give up the mid-game, this time they were in complete control of everything. Although we saw some magnificent plays from the likes of Magomed “Collapse” Khalilov and Nikita “Panto” Balaganin to keep Spirit in the game, it was not enough.

With that, Spirt are the first team to fall in the BLAST Slam IV playoffs, while MOUZ march forward to take on Tundra Esports in the semi-finals. Next on the cards would be HEROIC taking on Aurora Gaming, as both teams go in search of a guaranteed top 4 placement.
