Lone Druid sent back to hibernation with patch 7.41c

Lettered patches for the big 7.41 gameplay overhaul continue to come with nerfs intended to balance the game. After Meepo got hit hard a month ago in the “b” patch, the “c” update is targeting Lone Druid and Alchemist.

This is the second patch in a row that brings nerfs to Alchemist, a hero that dominated the meta since the removal of Facets. 7.41 was implemented mid-tournament in March and made Alchemist the go-to hero in the playoffs stage of ESL Birmingham 2026. The “b” update lowered Alchemist’s Base Agility from 22 to 19 and made a couple of changes to his talent three. That was hardly enough to stop his dominance.

At the next tournament, PGL Wallachia Season 8, Alchemist was banned in 92 of the 119 total games played, and ended up being the second most contested hero of the tournament with a 93.28% contest rate.

About a week before the next big tournament, DreamLeague Season 29, Alchemist received a few more nerfs with the 7.41c patch.

Alchemist nerfs

Greevil’s Greed bonus base/extra gold per melted Scepter got decreased from +6 to +3, and the Chemical Rage bonus health regen decreased from 60/90/120 to 50/85/120. These two nerfs should curve down the popularity of both core and support Alchemist. Along with the two big nerfs, Valve has also rescaled the Acid Spray cooldown to always be 21 seconds.

Lone Druid nerfs

Another hero that dominated both the competitive e and the public match making for the past month is Lone Druid. Today’s patch is aiming at putting a hard stop to the madness with nerfs applied to the Lone Druid himself and to his bear.

Lone Druid

  • Summon Spirit Bear
  • Mana Cost increased from 75 to 100

Spirit Link

  • Shared Lifesteal now follows general lifesteal rules and has a creep penalty of 40%

Savage Roar

  • Aghanim's Shard buff duration decreased from 5s to 4s
  • Aghanim's Shard bonus movement speed decreased from 15% to 10%

Talents

  • Level 10 Talent -25s Summon Spirit Bear Cooldown replaced with +5s True Form Duration

Spirit Bear

  • Gold/Experience Bounty increased from 175 + 8 per Spirit Bear level up to 165 + 10 per Spirit Bear level

Talents

  • Level 25 Talent Demolish Bonus Building Damage decreased from +20% to +15%

While these two are the biggest patch losers, it is worth mentioning that Techies were also hit quite hard by the nerf hammer. They got base mana regen nerfs, intelligence gain decreased, damage gain per level scaled down, and the M.A.D mana pool as regen per level was also scaled down.

7.41c winners

There are a couple of heroes who received some love this patch, and perhaps the most notable ones are Storm Spirit, who got back 2 Galvanized Charges and Drow Ranger, who got buffs on the Frost Arrows bonus damage and a mana cost decrease on her Gust spell.

There are a few more buffs to heroes this patch, including to Omniknight and Spectre, but most likely they are not enough to see them making a return to the competitive meta. You can check the full patch notes here.
