LGD Gaming return to Dota 2, signing the ex-HEROIC roster

After the HEROIC organisation parted ways with Dota 2, it was only a matter of time before the team was picked up, as LGD Gaming returns.

Early in May, a surprise announcement came to Dota 2 from the South American region, as one of the most prolific organisations of the region announced their departure. HEROIC, citing financial issues, confirmed that they would be leaving the game behind, with their team left without a backing organisation. This sudden change opened the door for a new organisation to take the reins, as the team remained together under the name ex-HEROIC.

Now, as we head towards the most important Dota 2 tournaments of the year, the team has been signed, with coach Igor Furtado “kaffs” Guimarães Estevão posting a teaser on May 25th, 2026.

LGD Gaming returns to Dota 2

While there were many rumours around who would be picking up the South American ex-HEROIC roster, many pointed towards LGD Gaming. Having disbanded back in 2024, oddly due to financial strains, the organisation now returns as we are on the brink of the Esports World Cup and The International 2026 qualifiers. Although ex-HEROIC has struggled recently in DreamLeague Season 29, this could be the boost that the players require to pull themselves together.

With the invites for The International 2026 released, also came the confirmation of teams invited into the regional qualifiers. Through this, we saw the name LGD Gaming appear under the South American qualifier, and it became clear that the rumours were true. Confirmed via the LGD Gaming X account, the South American team will now be playing under a new banner.

Although under a new organisation, the players remained the same, with Kaffs remaining in the coaching role.

  • Yuma Benjamin “Yuma” Langlet
  • Santiago Olivos “TaiLung” Agüero Gustavo
  • Adrián Céspedes “Wisper” Dobles
  • Thiago “Thiolicor” de Oliveira Cordeiro
  • Matheus Santos “KJ” Jungles Diniz

The new squad will have their first showing instantly, as they enter BLAST Slam VII starting on May 26th, 2026. This will be an interesting proving ground for both the team and the organisation, as they go in search of a high placement to show their improvement.
