After we witnessed Team Spirit secure themselves a guaranteed top 3 finish at BLAST SLAM VIII, it was time to turn our attention to the lower bracket. Unfortunately for two teams, their tournament lives would come to an end as elimination awaited. LGD Gaming, PARIVISION, 1w Team, and Aurora Gaming were all at risk if they were on the losing end of their respective series.

One win is not enough

Coming into this series, 1w definitely had a tough task ahead of them, going up against PV in an elimination series. However, after a strong showing in Game 1, they seemed to have found their footing to take them down. Unfortunately, PV’s answer to losing was to absolutely demolish their opponents over the next two games, with fantastic drafts and outplays across the map.

While the win ensures PV’s survival, they continue in the lower bracket where they will still need two more victories if they want to reach the grand finals.

Aurora blast past LGD

Having fallen into the lower bracket earlier in the day, Aurora would need to survive the onslaught of LGD if they wanted to remain in BLAST SLAM VIII. While they coasted through Game 1 without too many issues, LGD put up a fierce defense in Game 2, finding their footing when it mattered most. However, they could not hold on long enough to tie up the series, as Aurora crushed them in a 2-0 sweep.

Aurora now move on to face off against PV in the lower bracket semifinals, where both teams will be hoping to reach the top 3 and have a chance at making it to the grand finals.

With that, only four teams remain in BLAST SLAM VIII, but on Saturday, October 10th, another will meet their demise. At the same time, the first grand finalist will be determined, as Team Spirit and Team Yandex fight for a guaranteed top 2 spot.
