Largo strikes a winning tune in competitive meta with 60% win rate debut
A week after its debut in Captain's Mode, the new Dota 2 hero, Largo, has already been drafted in competitive play, boasting a strong 60% win rate from 40 picks.
Largo's stats are impressive, given that he was added to Captain's Mode just over four weeks after its initial release—one of the fastest transitions in recent history—and entered the competitive pool without an active Facet. The “Bard Frog” is currently being played mostly in the hard support role, but it has a few appearances as a soft support and even as an offlane hero as well. More so, his win rate is consistent across both map sides:
- Radiant: 17 games, 58.82% win rate
- Dire: 23 games, 60.87% win rate
Largo early standout players
1W Team’s Valery "SSS" Lazarev is the player with the most offlane Largo games so far, boasting a 100% win rate from three matches. For position 4 support, REKONIX’ Abdalla "dalul" Afemi holds the record with 4 games and 50% win rate.
There are only four players who have picked Largo at least three times in competitive matches in this first week since the hero became available for drafting. Besides dalul and SSS, Ilya "Hduo" Deriglazov of Power Rangers sits at 100 % win rate with four matches, while Virtus.pro’s Tal "Fly" Aizik has 3 matches on the hero with 2 wins and one 1 losses so far.

Largo builds by role
While all Largo players prioritise the hero’s utility in team fights and aim at getting the Aghnaim’s Shard either at the 15-minute mark when it becomes available in the shop or at the 20-minute mark, with the first Tormentor kill, there are differences in item builds based on the role played.
For his offlane Largo, SSS has always rushed Aghanim's Scepter, which enables two Amphibian Rhapsody-based abilities at the same time, dealing magical spell damage when any two songs are strummed on time. By rushed Aghs, we mean that he is even willing to sacrifice any starting items and get the Sceptre completed even before a Soul Ring. Given the healing power of Largo, even SSS is not skipping Holy Locket followed usually by Kaya and Sange and Guardian Greaves.
A position 4 Largo usually chooses utility items that are empowered by the Aghnaim’s Shard, and the choices are Solar Crest and/or Glimmer Cape/Lotus Orb, though the Crest seems to take priority in competitive play.
Hard Support Largo players are always rushing Guardian Greaves, in most of the cases, even skipping the Holy Locket
- Hard Support: Wind Lace-Magic Stick-Arcane Boots-Guardian Greaves
- Soft Support: Magic Stick-Arcane Boots-Holy Locket-Solar Crest-Aghanim's Scepter
- Offlane: Soul Ring-Brown Boots-Aghanim's Scepter-Holy Locket-Kaya and Sange-Guardian Greaves/BkB
Past the 30-minute mark, the item builds for offlane Largo vary depending on the in-game situation, but solid choices include Linken’s Sphere, Scythe of Vyse, Shiva’s Guard.
Entering its second week in the professional meta, Largo is expected to make his presence even more felt as the teams prepare for a busy tournament season. The upcoming schedule features BLAST Slam VI (starting February 3), followed by DreamLeague Season 28, PGL Wallachia Season 7, and ESL One Birmingham 2026.
