HEROIC land themselves a spot at The International 2025
HEROIC has come out on top after a gruelling South America qualifier for The International 2025.
Qualifiers for The International 2025 are underway, with 2 of the 6 regional divisions already finding their champion. For South America, the qualifier was packed with talent, as teams such as OG.LATAM, Edge, and HEROIC all piled in to fight for the single spot available at the prestigious event for the region. With 5 intense days of Dota 2 action, the dust has finally settled on the South American qualifiers, with HEROIC managing to find their footing and come out ahead of the rest.
HEROIC edges out the win
Although they were directly invited into the South American qualifier for The International 2025, HEROIC’s path was not an especially easy one. While going straight into the upper bracket quarterfinals, the team fought hard to reach the grand finals. It all began with a fairly straightforward victory over Infamous Gaming. From there, HEROIC took down Team Sin Compromiso, which featured their ex-teammate, David "Parker" Nicho Flores.
Their journey was stunted shortly after with a loss to Edge in the upper bracket finals before taking down OG.LATAM to secure a spot in the grand finals. Now, with a rematch against Edge on the cards and a chance to reach TI 2025 on the line, HEROIC needed to pull out all the stops.
Game one seemed to be going completely in HEROIC’s favour, as they pushed a 15k net worth lead over the 30-minute mark. However, huge mistakes and miscommunications became their undoing, as Yheremi "payk" Arroyo’s Gyrocopter took over the game. Securing all 11 of his team’s kills, payk carried Edge over the line to take the first win.
Errors seemed to be the name of the game for the series, with Edge throwing away a 30k net worth lead in game two. This massive turnaround spelled disaster for Edge, as the series crumbled away from them after this.
With two of the four games going over the hour mark, it was an intense series, but HEROIC managed to withstand the test. The team now turn their full attention to the Esports World Cup 2025 qualifiers for South America. This will be their next big test, before PGL Wallachia Season 5, where they will be hoping to finally put another win on the board after Season 2 saw them at their strongest.
