HEROIC and Liquid fail to keep the darkhorse story alive at FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2
After two big upsets in the opening games of the FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 playoffs, it was time for the second half of the day.
In the first half of Day 1 of the playoff stage in FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2, we witnessed two huge upsets. With Team Yandex taking down Tundra Esports and MOUZ battering Team Falcons, the remaining teams would be hoping to follow suit. But, with a double elimination bracket, there would be no eliminations just yet, as the lifeline of the lower bracket remained intact for all the teams.
HEROIC and Liquid break the underdog story train
HEROIC and Team Spirit were the next two teams to go head-to-head. Having seen the upsets from earlier in the day, the South American squad were hoping to channel their FISSURE PLAYGROUND 1 performance which took them to a victory over Spirit. However, having already played and lost during the Group Stage, it would take something special. Even with their recent monumental victory at FISSURE Universe: Episode 7, HEROIC could not find their footing, as Spirit managed to take an easy 2-0 win.

For the final series of Day 1 at the FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 playoffs, Team Liquid and BetBoom Team were up. Having met on multiple occasions this year, Liquid twice managed to secure a victory. However, with some poor performances of late, they were the ones looking for that underdog energy. While Liquid secured game 1, the comeback was on for BB Team. After turning game 2 into their favour, BB Team destroyed Liquid in game 3 to secure a 2-1 victory.

With that, Day 1 of FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 comes to an end, after we saw what was three upsets through the four series played. Tomorrow will see more playoff action, as the upper bracket teams continue their journey. For Yandex, MOUZ, Spirit, and BB Team, they will be attempting to reach the upper bracket final, while also avoiding the terrifying lower bracket where elimination could be right around the corner.
