GamerLegion unbeaten as they secure the North American TI slot

The International 2026 is quickly approaching, and with the release of the Dark Carnival event, the hype is definitely growing. Regional qualifiers have been the focus for a while, and with a few already concluded, it was only North America and Europe remaining. While EU’s final two qualifying teams will be decided at the end of the current weekend, NA found its singular TI challenger in the form of GamerLegion.

With only four teams in the NA regional qualifiers, it was a fairly straightforward affair, with not a single winning team dropping a game.

GamerLegion lock in for The International 2026

Looking at the NA regional qualifiers for TI 2026, it was clear that the region was not in a great spot. While every other region saw multiple big teams, and interesting open qualifiers, NA saw few recognisable names, and three spots in the closed qualifier going to The Bug, GG Boom, and 4 Anchors and Ilmeria. With GL having already been the favourites, it proved a simple qualifier or the team.

From start to finish, GL did not drop a single game. At the same time, not a single team that won their first game of a series dropped a game, with 2-0 sweeps all the way through, before a 3-0 sweep in the Grand Finals for GL. Daniel Chan “Ghost” Kok Hong’s time on the team now brings him to TI with yet another region, having competed under China and Europe previously, while also participating in qualifiers in Southeast Asia a few years ago.

With NA’s qualifier completed, we now look to the final remaining region, EU, where two more teams look to lock themselves in for TI 2026.

Now that the Dark Carnival has arrived, and with the Esports World Cup 2026 around the corner, the hype for Dota 2 and TI is quickly beginning to build.
