FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2’s playoffs got started today, and instantly we were treated to two huge upsets from the underdog teams, Team Yandex and MOUZ.

FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 moved into its playoff stage today, and within the first two series, we saw a slew of upsets. The unlikely winners made sure to come out strong, turning around deficits and giving dominant performances against teams that were expected to be at their peak. However, the tournament is still far from over, but we wait to see if this event will continue to see a rise in the underdog stories. Or if the pressure will get to these teams and they succumb.

Yandex and MOUZ come to life at FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2

Kicking things off in the playoffs of FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 were Tundra Esports and Team Yandex. With both teams coming into the tournament with multiple changes in the post-TI roster shuffle, Tundra was still expected to secure an easy win. Although, with both teams evenly matched during the Group Stage, we saw a brilliant Yandex appear. Having gone down in game 1, they fought back to be nearly unstoppable in the next two games, destroying Tundra. WIth almost 80 kills in two games, Yandex surprised everyone to move forward in the upper bracket.

Following that we saw a very uneven matchup, or so it was expected to be. Having gone unbeaten in the Group Stage, Team Falcons seemed primed to take their win at TI 2025 into a solid performance at their first event. However, with a Dragon Knight and Storm Spirit in both games, MOUZ were a force to be reckoned with. Even without Yeik "MidOne" Nai Zheng, who unfortunately misses the event due to visa issues, MOUZ suddenly looked to be on a warpath. MOUZ went from strength to strength, building their confidence against a team that should have had no problems dispatching them, finding the perfect moment to strike in both games, and eventually securing a huge 2-0 victory.

At the halfway point in Day 1 of the playoffs of FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2, two unlikely contenders have taken victories. MOUZ and Yandex now move on the upper bracket, looking to go head-to-head in the next round. But things are not yet over for Tundra or Falcons, who would move into the lower bracket where a single loss would spell elimination.

There are still two more full series to look foward to on Day 1 of the playoffs, with HEROIC looking to follow in the footsteps of upsets in their series versus Team Spirit before Team Liquid and BetBoom Team close things out.
