DreamLeague Season 29: The conclusion of the regional qualifiers
DreamLeague Season 29 is a month away, but we have already completed the regional qualifiers, as teams lock in for the event.
The final stop on the ESL Pro Tour this season is DreamLeague Season 29. While the event only kicks off on May 13th, a few teams have already secured their spot via regional qualifiers. While the top 6 in the EPT leaderboard will be receiving a direct invite, 8 regional qualifier slots were open to varying regions – while the remaining 2 slots will go to Division 2 Season 4 teams. But, after a few days of intense qualifier action, there were no major surprises as to who made it through to the upcoming event.
With one final chance to reach the Esports World Cup 2026 via a direct invite, the teams were ready to fight.
DreamLeague Season 29: Every regional qualifier
For the regional qualifiers for DreamLeague Season 29, we saw Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, China, South America, and North America all have their own chances to get to the main event. However, while most regions only had 1 slot available, WEU had 3, meaning that there was less chance of any major upsets. While Team Liquid dropped into the lower bracket of the qualifier and could have missed out on yet another event after ESL One Birmingham 2026, they managed to scrape in as the third team from WEU, following behind Virtus.pro and Natus Vincere.
BetBoom Team, in EEU, managed to survive a dangerous lower bracket run, too, and a few close calls. At the end of the day, they managed to take down L1GA TEAM and lock themselves in for the event. China saw no real surprises, with Vici Gaming powering through unbeaten. While Yakult Brothers are still unable to find their footing, CN’s qualifiers seem to be fairly one-sided.
SEA has a new team on the block, GLYPH, and after their qualification to BLAST Slam VII, it was thought that they would continue to shine. However, it was REKONIX who survived a lengthy lower bracket, getting revenge on GLYPH and Team Nemesis, and taking their place at DreamLeague Season 29. At the same time, in SA, we saw HEROIC and South America Rejects (ex-paiN Gaming) fighting it out. HEROIC survived a gruelling grand final and would be the team to take the regional qualifier slot.
NA was probably the biggest shock, with only 4 teams participating in the qualifier. But, more shocking than that, was that 2 of these teams ended up forfeiting their games, leaving just Amaru Flame and GamerLegion as the contenders. GL ended up as the undisputed winners, having only played two series.
The full list of regional qualified teams to DreamLeague Season 29 is:
- GamerLegion (North America)
- HEROIC (South America)
- REKONIX (Southeast Asia)
- Vici Gaming (China)
- BetBoom Team (Eastern Europe)
- Natus Vincere (Western Europe)
- Virtus.pro (Western Europe)
- Team Liquid (Western Europe)
The tournament kicks off on May 13th, and runs through to May 24th, with 16 teams fighting for their share of the $1,000,000 prize pool. However, the main reward on offer is the EPT Points, which are crucial for a few teams hoping to get a direct invite to the EWC, and avoid another bout of regional qualifiers.
