Spring Forward 2025 brought a plethora of big updates to Dota 2, including a much needed gameplay patch, tons of bug fixes and extremely useful quality of life updates.

Patch 7.39

Dota 2's latest patch comes with terrain and pathing adjustments, Tormentor timings changes, hero and item buffs and nerfs, new facets for a few heroes and eight new neutral items.

Tormentor changes

  • First Spawn Time increased from 15:00 to 20:00
  • Tormentor: Unyielding Shield: Base barrier decreased from 2100 to 2000
  • Tormentor: Unyielding Shield: Barrier regeneration gain per minute of game time decreased from 5 to 3.5

A more powerful Roshan

  • Slam: Hero Duration increased from 2s to 4s
  • Slam: Non-Hero Duration increased from 4s to 8s
  • Roar of Retribution: Incoming Damage Buff Duration increased from 8s to 12s
  • Roar of Retribution: Health Trigger threshold increased from 80% to 85%
  • Roar of Retribution: Now cast even if Roshan is Silenced or Stunned
  • Roar of Retribution: Now gives Roshan a strong dispel on cast
  • Roar of Retribution: Now triggers a message visible to everyone (similar to when Roshan's Banner is planted)
  • Strength of the Immortal: Armor Bonus per minute increased from 0.375 to 0.4
  • Strength of the Immortal: Attack Damage Bonus per minute increased from 6 to 7

Terrain and pathing

Key areas on the map have been adjusted in the 7.39 patch. Some of the most important changes were made around tier 1 and tier 2 towers, which now have new ramps, new pathways to the creep camps as well as the ramps being slightly moved. The pathing area leading to the lotus pools and the pathing area around the Radiant triangle have also been reworked. Both Roshan pits are also slightly adjusted to be closer to the center of the Radiant/Dire cliffsides.

Lifesteal, Spell Lifesteal and Health Regeneration become Health Restoration

  • Lifesteal Amplification and Spell Lifesteal Amplification have been removed, and a new stat has been created in their place: Health Restoration.
  • Health Restoration provides a percentage increase to the health gained from Lifesteal, Spell Lifesteal, and Health Regeneration
  • Positive and Negative sources of Health Restoration stack diminishingly with each other
  • Health Restoration cannot go lower than -100% and cannot go higher than 100%
  • Sources of Heal Amplification now stack additively with each other instead of diminishingly
  • Heal Amplification cannot go lower than -100% and has no upper limit
  • Effects that root and disarm are now considered Bind Effects and will have the status effect "Bound" overhead

In consequence, all items that gave lifesteal, spell lifesteal Amp or health regen have now changed to Health Restoration. It is important to note that Kaya and Sange and Kaya no longer provide Spell Lifesteal Amplification, and no other stat has been added to them.

Facet changes

Alongside balance updates applied to a plethora of heroes, Valve has put a focus to Facets in the 7.39 gameplay update.

A total of 13 new Facets have been added to the game, some changing some of the hero dynamics completely. Perhaps one of the most crucial changes suffered is by Nature’s Prophet, who has been dominating the professional scene for the past couple of months.

The Ironwood Treant facet has been removed from Nature’s Prophet, which means that your buildings can no longer go down in a matter of seconds to a single Furion treant. That might also mean that the carry Nature’s Prophet meta is out of the window. The Ironwood Treant facet was replaced with Nature’s Profit, which plants a money tree in place of enemy heroes that die within a 750 unit radius of Nature’s Prophet. Each tree spawns 2 gold bags every second, which can be picked up by any hero. Each gold bag grants gold equal to 1.5x of the killed hero's level, and each money tree has a lifespan of 3 seconds.

Additionally, Nature’s Prophet has also received a new talent to buff his money tree. Level 15 talent +100 Teleportation Barrier was replaced with +1 Nature's Profit Gold Bags per tick.

Abaddon, Bloodseeker, Clockwerk, Earthshaker, Lich, Monkey King, Muerta, Silencer, Sand King, and Witch Doctor have also received new Facets, while Batrider, Grimstroke and Venomancer have their facets reworked.
