The group stage of BLAST Slam V is drawing to a close, and the shape of the event has become unmistakably clear. At the top sit two giants who have shown almost no signs of slowing down since The International 2024—Tundra Esports and Team Falcons. Both teams ended the group stage with an impressive 10:1 record, dominating nearly every opponent in their path. Falcons’ only stumble came in their surprising loss to Yakult Brothers on day one, while Tundra’s lone defeat was delivered by none other than Falcons themselves.

It’s a continuation of a storyline that has defined the season: Falcons and Tundra trading blows at the very peak of the competitive scene. Falcons are still riding the high of their TI victory, while Tundra look poised to continue their Slam dynasty as they are already holding titles from BLAST Slam II, III, and IV, and now positioning themselves to claim a fourth trophy in the series. Both teams have now secured their direct tickets to the playoffs in Chengdu, China, where they’ll take the stage at the Wuliangye Culture & Sports Center from December 5–7 in front of a live crowd.

At the opposite end of the standings, however, sits Tearlaments, who finished last with a 1:10 record. Their only victory came against fellow Chinese team Team Tidebound, raising questions about whether Tearlaments played the event from China—potentially under high ping and unfavorable match hours—or whether deeper performance issues are to blame. If they are indeed competing remotely, that would explain some of their struggles; if not, Tearlaments will need to find answers quickly to avoid elimination heading into the decisive stages.

What comes next

With Tundra and Falcons already locked into the main event in Chengdu, the remaining ten teams will continue fighting for the final four playoff slots through the Last Chance Playoffs and Play-In Stage.

Only four of those ten teams will survive the gauntlet and join the two frontrunners in China.

Last Chance Playoffs

  • November 30th
  • All matches are Bo3
  • Winner advances to Play-In
  • Remaining teams are eliminated

Play-In

  • November 30th
  • All matches are Bo3
  • Winner advance to Quarterfinals
  • Remaining teams are eliminated

The action resumes tomorrow at 13:00 CET, beginning with both Last Chance Playoff series. The losers will be eliminated from BLAST Slam V, while the winners move into the Play-In round, where they’ll face the third- and fourth-place teams from the Groups: MOUZ and Team Yandex.
