Day 4 of the Esports World Cup 2026 produces multiple confirmed eliminations

So far, the Esports World Cup 2026 Dota 2 event had not produced any major upsets, but by the end of the fourth day of Group Stage action, a few teams were destined to be eliminated. With only a single series now left for every team, apart from possible tiebreakers, we are unlikely to see too many changes on who goes through to the playoffs, and who is sent packing from the tournament.
In each group, there were already teams in dire positions, and while Day 4 did not confirm every elimination across the board, many teams needed a bit of a miracle to make it through to the Survival stage.
Group A: Poor Rangers face a Group Stage exit
When it comes to Group A at EWC 2026, Team Falcons and BetBoom Team were the ones in control, with The International 2025 champions holding onto the top spot after Day 4. However, the bottom end of the group was where the interest lay, as RuneEaters and Poor Rangers struggled to make ends meet.
Although they are not confirmed as eliminated just yet, their final series pits them against one another, which means there is still a chance for them to make it through. But this all depends on the final day of Group Stage action for these teams, and GamerLegion.
Group B: L1 Team and Level UP fall
Before Day 4 had come to an end, the two teams eliminated from Group B had already been confirmed, as it became mathematically impossible for them to rise out of the lower spots. Level UP and L1 Team were the unfortunate two, with 0-8 and 1-7 scorelines, respectively after their series. This meant that all that was left to be decided for this group would be which team would reach the playoffs straight away, and who would need to brave the Survival stage.
The final day could line up for tiebreakers, with Aurora Gaming and Nigma Galaxy currently at 7-1, as they head into their last series on July 11th.
Group C: Two teams struggle to make their mark
The layout of Group C is all but confirmed at the end of their Day 4 series, with only the top two spots left to fight over. While PVISION remained unbeaten, Team Spirit would be their final battle, and it would determine which team will reach the playoffs instantly and avoid the Survival stage. Vici Gaming and MOUZ sit safe from elimination in the middle of the group, but unfortunately for Team Nemesis and REKONIX, they were unable to show any strong performances.
After taking a single game off MOUZ on Day 3, a Day 4 loss to VG sent Nemesis to the danger zone, which is where they will see their tournament end after their final series. RKX, without a victory registered, round out the bottom of the group, as the two teams play each other on Day 5 just to see who will come out ahead.
Group D: OG thwart 1w’s perfect run
1w have been dominant for the first three days of the Group Stage, unstoppable in the face of any challenger. That was until they met OG, who put a swift stop to their clean sheet. Although only a tied series, it changed a lot in the group, as Team Yandex are now tied for the top spot, and OG lifted themselves out of the danger zone.
Unfortunately, Inner Circle x Insanity, without any wins recorded as yet, would be eliminated, even with their final series left to play on Sunday. Oddly, Virtus.pro sit tied in the elimination territory, with LGD Gaming also needing a win in their final series to survive to the next stage.
Only two days remain of the Group Stage at EWC 2026, but only a few teams still could save themselves from elimination. Group A and B will come to an end on July 11th, while Sunday will see Group C and D culminate. As we head closer to the Survival stage, and, thus, the playoffs, teams are beginning to adapt well to the tournament meta and show their real power.
