BLAST Slam VI qualifiers end with three teams securing passage to the event
2026’s Dota 2 year kicks off with a ton of qualifiers, with the first to be decided being those of BLAST Slam VI.
BLAST Slam VI is still a month away, with five teams having already secured direct invites into the February event. However, with the new year fresh and Dota 2 rearing to go, we are already seeing the closed qualifiers for the tournament getting underway. Today, on January 5th, 2026, Europe, China, and Southeast Asia all saw their qualifiers come to a head, as one team from each of the regions secured their spot at BLAST Slam VI.
Three teams qualify to BLAST Slam VI
It has not been too long without Dota 2 action from the professional scene, and with the start of 2026, we are already treated to a month of different qualifiers. First on the board would be the BLAST Slam VI qualifiers, which saw China, Southeast Asia, and Europe all getting a run for one slot per region at the main event. The SEA region was our first stop, with the likes of Team Nemesis, Execration, and even KUKUYS in the mix. However, an unlikely challenger came knocking, as the Muhammad “InYourDream” Rizky Anugrah stack of REKONIX made their way into the grand finals. Taking down all their challengers, REKONIX secured their spot at BLAST Slam VI, and what would be the team’s first ever Tier 1 Dota 2 event.
Next on the cards would be the CN qualifier, which left us with Xtreme Gaming and Vici Gaming fighting it out for the qualifier spot. While XG seemed to have things in the bag, a huge push from VG took the grand finals to a 90-minute decider game. Unfortunately for VG, even with massive mistakes from both sides, XG’s experience came through to carry them over into a 2-1 win, and the BLAST Slam VI event.
The last qualifier for the tournament would see Europe’s teams looking for their spot. With Nigma Galaxy bombing out in the first round, it left the door open for a few teams. However, it was PARIVISION and Natus Vincere that graced the grand finals. After 21-minute massacre, it seemed as though it was all in the bag for PV, before NAVI’s fight back begun. With a huge turn around, they managed to take down PV and claim their spot at BLAST Slam VI.
With that, nearly all teams are set for BLAST Slam VI in February. The five current invites (Tundra Esports, Team Falcons, MOUZ, HEROIC, and Team Yandex) are joined by XG, REKONIX, and NAVI, with four direct invites still on the way in the coming weeks.
