BetBoom Team sweep the grand finals of PGL Wallachia Season 8

PGL Wallachia Season 8 reached its end today, with a grand final between BetBoom Team and Aurora Gaming to decide a champion.

The final day of PGL Wallachia Season 8 saw three teams go in, and only one crowned as the tournament champions. A lower bracket between Aurora Gaming and Team Falcons kicked everything off, where the victor would take on BetBoom Team in the grand finals. With a swift 2-0 sweep, Aurora set themselves up for an upper bracket finals rematch and the chance at revenge – this time with the championship title on the line.

BetBoom outclass the rest

Having placed third at PGL Wallachia Season 7, and with a poor placement at ESL One Birmingham 2026, BB Team were hoping to finally get themselves a victory in 2026. For Aurora, after losing to BB in the upper bracket finals, they were looking to take some revenge and take a step in the right direction after a strong DreamLeague Season 28 second place finish. However, the first two games of the series did not go anywhere near their way.

An hour-long slog in Game 1 saw Ilya “Kiritych” Ulyanov’s Muerta dominate, going 17/3/11, as BB took the lead. What followed was a massacre in Game 2, where Aurora only managed 4 kills in 40-minutes, leaving them 0-2 down and looking for a way back into the series, and a possible reverse sweep if they wanted to claim the PGL Wallachia Season 8 title.

Going into Game 3, Aurora seemed to have a better showing, but it did not surmount to much. As the game progressed, BB begun to find their footing, taking constant fights, and pushing Aurora back. As BB moved up onto the highground, taking the first lane of barracks, Aurora looked to regroup and try one last time to make a stand. Unable to contend with the strength of their opponents lineup, Aurora threw in the towel after nearly 50-minutes, giving BB a dominant victory.

With that, PGL Wallachia Season 8 comes to an end, as BetBoom Team sweep the grand finals 3-0, claiming their first tournament win of 2026. Unfortunately for Aurora, it would be another second-place finish, as both teams now prepare for their next tournaments in a few weeks.
