BetBoom Team claim their first trophy of the year at FISSURE Universe: Episode 4

BetBoom Team and Gaimin Gladiators were the unlikely grand finalists at FISSURE Universe: Episode 4.

BetBoom Team and Gaimin Gladiators were the unlikely grand finalists at FISSURE Universe: Episode 4.

Both teams made a full comeback in the recently concluded online tournament. BetBoom Team and Gaimin Gladiators were one series away from getting eliminated in the Swiss group stage and had to play all five rounds to reach the playoffs, and both took down the top teams of the moment to claim a spot in the final act.

BetBoom made a full upper bracket run and, on their way to the trophy, took down Gaimin twice. The first confrontation came in the upper bracket finals, which was far more contested than the grand finals as BetBoom had to pull a 2-1 reverse sweep over Gaimin.

However, the grand finals featured a completely dominant BetBoom who seemed to have found all the answers to Gaimin’s game plan.

BetBoom Team vs Gaimin Gladiators 3:0

Ivan "Pure" Moskalenko and Danil "gpk" Skutin took the limelight in the grand finals with their unstoppable performances. Pure began the best-of-five series with a spotless 14/0/13 KDA on a carry Templat Assassin, while gpk might have just brought Kunka back in the meta.

Kunkka was picked only once and banded only once in the entire tournament. The first pick came in the first game of the grand finals, and gpk made a clear case of why everyone should be wary of its power moving into the next competitions. The first ban on Kunkka came in the third game of the grand finals, when Gaimin tried to take off the table everything that seemed overpowered in the hands of BetBoom players. However, even with Kunkka, Tiny, Dragon Knight, Storm Spirit, and Sniper banned, gpk still dominated the mid lane with a Magnus in the final game of the series and was the key factor in BetBoom Team’s 3-0 sweep.

What’s next for BetBoom Team

BetBoom Team will enter the battle for the title at ESL One Raleigh 2025 in just one week. They will be arriving in the United States well warmed up and with a better understanding of what most of their competitors at ESL One are running in the current meta, and the title at FISSURE Universe: Episode 4 might be exactly the morale boost this team needed to perform at its true potential moving forward.
