BetBoom take the top seed spot for Group B at the Esports World Cup

BetBoom Team put on a fantastic performance to top Group B at the Esports World Cup 2025.

With day three of the Esports World Cup Dota 2 event, we got our first sight of teams heading into the playoffs. While Team Spirit secured their passage through from Group A earlier in the day, Group B looked a bit different. In a group that featured both BetBoom Team and Gaimin Gladiators, as well as Team Falcons and Execration, everyone expected an intense battle.

BetBoom blasts through Group B

Group B at the Esports World Cup 2025 got off to an epic start with Gaimin Gladiators (GG) and BetBoom Team (BB) going head-to-head. The two teams, both favourites for the top seed of their group, managed to take one game apiece in the best-of-two series, sharing the opening spoils. It remained difficult to separate the teams on day two, when they both won their next series with ease.

One of the best things we saw from this came from BB, when Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko drafted a Hoodwink in the position 1 role. The dominance from this pick resonated throughout the Dota 2 community, as we all expected to see more of it in our pub games moving forward. Even so, BB looked to have found their footing and made sure everyone knew.

With their final series, BB took on XCTN and flourished. Their final 2-0 win took them to the top of Group B, and with GG dropping a game to Team Falcons, they cruised through to the playoffs of the EWC. BB’s dominance makes them one of the prime candidates to go all the way at the EWC, as they avoid the difficult elimination phase and head straight to the playoff stage.

For GG, they will advance into the second round of the elimination phase, while both XCTN and Falcons will need to get through two rounds if they want to make it into the playoffs. After the magnificent Hoodwink and Muerta picks from BB, it will be interesting to see what they have in store for us later in the EWC.

For now, we look forward to both Group C and D, which will find their champion on Friday, July 11th.
