BetBoom captain Save switches to mid lane to fill In for gpk
BetBoom Team has announced that their long-time captain and position 4 support player Vitalie "Save-" Melnic is switching roles and will start the new season in the mid lane, filling the void left by Danil "gpk~" Skutin's extended break. The organisation confirmed the move in a short statement on its social media platforms.
"Vitalie 'Save-' Melnic is switching roles and will start the season playing mid. He has wanted to try himself in this role for a long time — we believe in him and are ready to support him in this new chapter," said BetBoom Team.
The announcement marks a significant shift for Save-, who has been playing in the support role for over seven years.

Save’s decision to swap roles comes after gpk~ confirmed he is stepping away from competition, most likely until the New Year, citing mental and physical exhaustion after two long seasons.

The changes come shortly after BetBoom Team, competing as BoomBoys at The International 2026, finished 4th in Shanghai, matching the organisation's placement at TI 2025. The 2026-27 competitive season begins later this week with PGL Wallachia Season 9, though PGL has yet to announce the full list of invited teams.
With Save- moving to mid, BetBoom must also address who fills the position 4 support role, and who takes over in-game leadership duties if the captain's focus shifts to a new lane. The organisation has not yet announced further roster changes, stand-ins, or a replacement for boolk on the coaching side.
