From struggling to figure out the 7.41 patch at ESL Birmingham 2026, to leading the pack in Bucharest, at PGL Wallachia Season 8, Aurora Gaming are once again showing their true colours.

Birmingham was a tragedy for Aurora Ganming, who was steamrolling in the group stage, only to hit a hard stop with the release of the big 7.41 patch right before the playoffs. From 31-1, in the group play, they went on back-to-back losses in the playoffs.

Fast forward to a month later, Aurora are back in shape and back into the playoffs stage after claiming three consecutive victories in the Swiss group format of PGL Wallachia Season 8. The last win felt particularly significant as they were pushed to a decisive game three by PARIVISION.

“We just played really bad,” said Egor "Nightfall" Grigorenko when asked on the official English broadcast about game two, against PARIVISION. Aurora took game one on the back of an aggressive Slardar draft, but lost when PARI gave them the same treatment. Nightfall noted his team’s lack of early rotation and pressure on the enemy Slardar, who, allowed to farm peacefully, was able to dictate the pace of the game.

Slardar turned out to be the x factor for both teams.

Aurora had first pick in the decisive game and showed no hesitation to use it on Slardar. They paired it with highly mobile heroes such Storm Spirit, Faceless Void and Hoodwink to make sure they have the better initiation power and the better team fight tools and were able to keep the lead in both net worth and experience throughout the entire game, despite being first to lose a lane of barracks.

PARIVISION were on the verge of mounting a comeback past the 30-minute mark, but Rafli "Mikoto" Fathur Rahman saved the day for Aurora with an Aegis steal that enabled his team to pass by PARI and secure a spot in the playoffs.

Along with Aurora, BetBoom Team have also made it to the playoffs. They reverse swept Falcons in order to secure their playoff spot after starting the series with an extremely defensive Undying offlane that slowed them down too much. They came prepared with a tempo type of draft revolving around Alchemist. It didn’t work out in game two, but after switching Undying for Dawnbreaker, BB Team had no issues executing the game plan.

While both Aurora and BetBoom Team will get two days to rest and prepare for the playoffs, the Swiss group stage action continues at PGL Wallachia Season 8 with six teams in the winner’s series and six teams fighting for survival.
