Nothing is ever stagnant or dull when it comes to the Dota 2 scene. Amidst the constant swirl of drama, tournaments, patches, and roster swaps, there’s always something unfolding behind the stage. From surprise upsets and standout performances to off-stage hiccups, each week brings a fresh mix of chaos and exctiment to our favorite (and often times most hated) game.

Tournaments

ESL One Birmingham 2026

ESL One Birmingham 2026 is expected to run from March 22nd-29th. Six teams —Tundra Esports, Xtreme Gaming, PARIVISION, OG, Team Spirit, and Team Yandex— received direct slots based on the results of the ESL Pro Tour 2025/2026 season. The rest of the teams were forced to earn their space in regional qualifiers.

BetBoom Team and Aurora will be on hand, as well as GamerLegion and REKONIX — the Indonesia based team making waves latey in SEA region. Muhammad “InYourDream” Rizky Anugrah's stack recently made their way into the grand finals of the BLAST Slam qualiifers. Taking down all their challengers, REKONIX secured their spot at BLAST Slam VI, and what would be the team’s first ever Tier 1 Dota 2 event.

To absolutely no-one's surprise, Team Falcons have already secured their spot. There are three more up for grabs in the WEU qualifiers which are expected to concude on January 20th.

South America's representative will also be determined on January 20th. Only one team will advance and the battle is looking to be as spicy as ever.

Players and Teams

Rostislav "fn" Lozovoi announced his retirement. The Ukrainian player, streamer, and coach started his career in 2014 and played with various teams such as Vega Squadron and Team Empire. In mid 2022, Fn ended his playing career and became a coach. His last team was eSpoiled.

Team Spirit

Shortly after Team Spirit announced on Telegram that Midlaner Denis "Larl " Sigitov would be inactive for six weeks and will miss the team's first three tournaments in 2026 —the team then revealed coach Airat "Silent" Gaziev has been moved to the inactive roster for their Dota 2 team. Silent worked with Team Spirit from December 2020. In his five years with the team under his leadership, Team Spirit became champions of The International twice, won the Esports World Cup 2025, and secured victories in several other tier-1 tournaments.

HEROIC

Following a difficult start to the new year, HEROIC are once again making roster changes. The team waved goodbye to Cedric “Davai Lama” Deckmyn and moved Adrián "Wisper" Dobles back to his offlane position. Now they turned their attention to mid lane prodigy Santiago "TaiLung" Gustavo. All eyes are on them as ESL One Birmingham 2026 qualifiers heat up.

Carstensz Esports

There's a new kid in town for Southeast Asia. Carstensz Esports, an Indonesian-based organization, has begun assembling its first roster and officially stepping into the scene. They just recently signed with Randy "Dreamocel" Sapoetra. Prior to this, the organisation had signed Filipino player Ryan “Raging Potato” Qui, with more additions expected. Adding further intrigue, Malaysian legend Wong “ChuaN” Hock will take on the role of head coach.
