All rdy: Your weekly recap of February 16th-22nd

Nothing is ever stagnant or dull when it comes to the esports scene. Amidst the constant swirl of drama, tournaments, patches, and roster swaps, there’s always something unfolding behind the stage. From surprise upsets and standout performances to off-stage hiccups, each week brings a fresh mix of chaos and exctiment to our favorite (and often times most hated) games.

Counter-Strike 2

Tournaments

Aside from Vitality winning yet another tournament, which has been and will likely continue to be a recurring theme, there was actually a lot to get our teeth into this week.

Virtus.pro’s decline has never been more obvious than when they watched their former IGL take PARIVISION to a second tier one grand final, while they re-signed mir, who hasn’t played in years, to first-time IGL their doomed project. Best of luck mate.

Speaking of not playing for years, the new 100T project made its debut at Roman Imperium Cup V (no, we don’t know either), marking the end of a six-year absence for everyone’s favourite streetwear brand. Their first game was a paddlin’ from NIP, which wasn’t ideal, but they got their revenge by beating them in the BO3 later on that day.

They went out to BetBoom 1-2, finishing 5-8th, which isn’t the worst start of all time. It’s more embarrassing for NIP, really, as it so often is.

Tournaments

DreamLeague Season 28

After several days of volatile group play, early roster drama, and shifting momentum swings, DreamLeague Season 28 has officially reached its halfway cut. From 16 now to eight, the stakes continue to rise over the next few days as the second group stage edges along. Aurora Gaming continue to be the hottest team on the field, as they top the groups once again. PARIVISION on the other hand, need to find themselves a win if they want to keep in the game. The team is currently sitting in last place without a single victory to their name.

Group Stage 2

  • February 21 - February 27
  • One single round-robin group of eight teams
  • All matches are Bo3
  • Top two teams advance to the upper bracket of the playoffs
  • 3rd and 4th place teams advance to the lower bracket of the playoffs
  • Remaining teams are eliminated

Teams and Players

Team Falcons announced that Stanislav "Malr1ne" Potorak would not be able to participate in PGL Wallachia Season 7 due to visa issues. They have already confirmed that his spot will be temporarily filled by Artyom "Lorenof" Melnik. PGL Wallachia Season 7 will take place from March 7 to 15 in Bucharest, Romania. The tournament will feature 16 teams competing for their share of the $1,000,000 prize pool.

Two-time-back-to-back TI championship player Anathan "ana " Pham has announced he will begin streaming on Twitch. His last stream was in October 2021. There is no indication as of yet if he will return to competitive play or try for a spot at The International again.

Updates and Patches

Valve has changed the end date of the Dota Plus winter season in Dota 2. Originally scheduled to conclude on March 15, the season will now end on March 5.
