Eliminations continued today at the Esports World Cup, as Talon Esports is the next team to fall at the hands of Tundra Esports.

Talon Esports remained as the final full Southeast Asian team in the Dota 2 tournament at the Esports World Cup. After Execration were eliminated by Xtreme Gaming in Round 1 of the Elimination Phase, Talon was hoping to fly the region’s flags high. Unfortunately, in their path for Round 2 after they sent HEROIC packing was Tundra Esports.

So far, within the elimination Phase at the EWC 2025, we have seen no resistance from the losing teams. Every series remained 2-0, and nothing was going to change in this series. Talon were unable to find their footing early in game 1, with the Remco “Crystallis” Arets Dawnbreaker running them over. In a little over half an hour, Tundra had secured 45 kills, with Talon’s measly 7 in return.

Not a lot changed heading into Game 2 of the series, with Crystallis this time taking a back seat on the Dawnbreaker, while Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov turned up the heat with his Queen of Pain. Even with a Broodmother pick on the side of Tundra, Talon was lost at every turn, as they threw in the towel at 30 minutes once more.

With the win, Tundra move themselves into the playoff stage of the EWC, as they set up a quarter-finals series against BetBoom Team. For Talon, unfortunately, their tournament comes to an end, as they now sit on the sidelines, watching the rest of the proceedings. For Talon, without prospects at The International 2025, this remains a fairly poor result.

With the playoffs now quickly approaching, it will be interesting to see who will come out on top of the EWC and what new interesting strategies will be coming out from the top 8 teams. However, before that, one final elimination series remains in Round 2, as Natus Vincere and Team Falcons fight it out for the last spot in the playoffs.
